Where hope grows, miracles blossom.

Hope is a waiting dream.
Never stop hoping and dreaming!

Hope is the ability to hear the music of the future.
Faith is having the courage to dance to it today.

Adoption Interview: Tony Dungy

We enjoy sports in our home.  We have commented several times and what a cool guy Tony Dungy seems to be calm, mellow, level headed, and was still able to coach winning teams.
I think we know now why we like him so much -- he's an adoptive dad, too!!

Another Favorite Children's Book

Just in Case You Ever Wonder
by Max Lucado

This book is not specifically designated as an adoption book, but IT SHOULD BE! :)
Favorite Lines:

"Long, long ago God made a decision -- a very important decision...one that I'm really glad He made.
He made the decision to make you."

"You are very, very special.  And since you are so special,
God wanted to put you in just the right home...
where you would be warm when it's cold,
where you'd be safe when you're afraid,
where you'd have fun and learn about heaven."

"After lots of looking, God sent you to me.
And I'm so glad He did."

"I'll never forget the first time I saw you ...
your eyes were closed,
your fingers were curled in two little fists,
your cheeks were puffy and round.

"I knew in my heart God had sent someone very wonderful for me to take care of."

One of my goals for next year will be to focus less on the negative, less on "what I don't have" and more on the many, many small, large, and everything in between blessings in my life. Adoption is a roller coaster. End of story. There are so many highs and lows, but I can just as easily look at the highs and enjoy those moments as I can look at the lows and wallow in them.

So much to be thankful for!

National Adoption Awareness Month

For many reasons, November is one of my favorite months of the year.  One of them is that it is the official " National Adoption Awareness Month." (not that we don't celebrate it every day of the year!)

There are a few challenges floating around the internet about posting something everyday about adoption as a way to increase awareness about this beautiful miracle.

I'm going to be realistic here, people -- If I can post once a week I will be !muy feliz! (very happy!)

So here we go:

This is one of my very favorite adoption books -- it makes me all teary eyed every time we read it as Mama Fox tells about her wait until baby fox came along.

Some of my favorite lines:

Mama Fox says " I trusted that God knew you, and knew me,
and knew when we'd fit perfectly together."

"When God found us you, it made me the happiest mother in the world."

There is even a discussion about why little fox couldn't stay with his birth mother.

"She must have had a very big reason ... she must have believed it was best for you.
I think she prayed like crazy that you would be safe, Little Fox.
I think she prayed for me as much as I prayed for her."

 HAPPY NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH!

National Adoption Awareness Month

I had the unique opportunity to attend the National Families Supporting Adoption Conference in Utah this summer -- AMAZING experience and I'm excited to go next year!!  While there, I met this great couple from Texas.  They are spotlighting families hoping to adopt each Monday for the entire month of November in celebration of National Adoption Awareness Month on their blog.  We are fortunate enough to be spotlighted this week!

Thanks Liz!! --  You can see it HERE

Be sure to congratulate them, two times, and read about their exciting news!
