Bringing Home Baby

I know we are a wee bit behind on this blog, but we're trying to catch up! January 15, 2011 was the day that we got to bring "home" baby I. Wisconsin adoptions laws are different than Illinois and so we were required to stay in the state where the baby was born until the ICPC (interstate compact for the placement of children) cleared through the state of WI and then through the state of IL. We were lucky enough to have a friend so kindly offer their weekend home to us for our week-long stay (Thank you Kelly & Joe - we are forever indebted!)

President's Day Celebration

President's are really big around here right now; all 44 of them.

All of the president's up to Jimmy Carter + Ronald W. Reagan have gone to heaven.

Franklin D. Roosevelt has eyes that look like a cameleon's having a meeting (?? I don't understand that one, either.)

Our day started with a full Presidential menu:

We were only allowed 11 pretzels for "James K. Polk Pretzels" because he was the 11th president.

Following lunch, we had our dessert of cake (photo to follow - as soon as I figure out how to get it off my phone!) It was (no longer in existence) a yellow bundt cake with chocolate frosting and primary color sprinkles. We were only allowed one candle and the center of the cake had the Presidential Seal. In order to be served a piece of cake you had to pick a president that you wanted to be while you ate it -- no repeats!

All 44 presidents attended (that would be all 44 stuffed animals) and T-Man had extended family come to join him for lunch and dessert. He was very excited to share the festivities with others!

G-Pa: "What does a duck say?"(T-Man answers Quack)
"What does a cow say?" (T-Man answers Moo)
"Where does milk come from?"
T-Man: "The refrigerator!"

T-Man: "The opposite of wonder is over!"

T-Man: "Oops, I made a mess"
Mommy: That's okay it's just an accident, we'll clean it up"
T-Man: "We need the 'bust-duster' to clean up the crumbs"
